Workshop Information
Event Date:
Thu, 06/24/2010 - 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Event Location:
WSU Student Center: 277
Full Description:

This workshop builds the international BDS movement and zooms in on a national divestment campaign being led by Jewish Voice for Peace. Facilitators will encourage networking, skills-sharing and individual participation through the use of group brainstorming, mapping and discussion and a small group exercise in action planning.

The JVP divestment campaign provides many local entry points to the BDS movement and opportunities to link struggles between the US and Occupied Territory – For example, one target company, Elbit, pioneered the development of the surveillance technology being used on the US-Mexico Border Wall while working on the West Bank’s Separation Wall. This workshop is also a space to explore how chapters of SJP, SAFE and SSRI can link this campaign with organizing for divestment of college portfolios and other community struggles.
