We will present our cooperative research project on worker, consumer, and housing cooperatives; alternative currencies; fair trade distributors; urban gardens and the food sovereignty movement; solidarity consumption such as freecycling, freeganism, swap meets; socially responsible investment groups and community capital. We are a group of students from Wellesley College who researched the Boston Solidarity Economy in our course on The Political Economy of Gender, Race and Class. We will also discuss the cooperative learning methods we practiced in our classroom throughout the semester. We plan to publish our research as part of a web book.
