If you have ever thought:
- Changing the whole world is necessary
- I want to build my local organizing project so that it actually is part of transforming the global system
- I want to develop organizations where the practice matches the vision.
Then, this workshop is for you.
Come think concretely with us about a vision of grassroots democracy and participatory economics. We will explore, through interactive discussion, drawing, music, and body movement, how our vision must, and can, directly inform the way we create our movements and build our organizations.
This workshop will focus on organizing practices that promote a true democracy, that encourage leadership structures which are horizontal rather than top-down, and that values organizations that have created processes for making power collectively with all the membership.
We are people who root ourselves in lessons learned from Black and Third World Women, queers and the disabled, anti-colonial liberation, and workers’ rights movements.
We work in multiple grassroots organizations like the Garment Worker Center (LA), Community and County Health Empowerment (LA), Coalition for Educational Justice (LA), Center for Immigrant Families (NY), and Mamas of Color Rising (Austin).
