Full Description:

Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) partners with communities in Colombia, Palestine, Iraq and North America that are working to build lasting peace and justice in and around their homes. Over the last few years, CPT has been working to integrate an undoing oppressions analysis into our work as a community.

Anti-racism work in particular has changed the way we see ourselves as an organization. For example, our work in the Magdalena Media region of Colombia has been shaped significantly by the perspectives of Colombians joining a team that started out in 2001 as largely white and North American. Rather then North Americans seeing themselves as the central peacemakers, we've come to see local communities as the main actors in their work to build a just peace for themselves and their children. Our work as CPT is to come alongside them in that struggle and support them through advocacy, human rights work and public actions.

We'll share about some of the challenges, successes, failures, questions and insights we have had along the way. We will leave a substantial part of the workshop for question and answer. We'd also like to hear participant's experiences have been in the organizations or networks of which they are a part.
