Participants will come away with a better understanding of how civilian diplomacy and collective action can be tools to bring peace and justice to Israelis and Palestinians. Facilitators will make audio/visual presentations about peacemaker delegations to Palestine/Israel and strategies to empower Palestinian nonviolent struggle against occupation. The workshop will include an interactive activity deconstructing the ethno-religious privilege of participants. Facilitators will spend half of the workshop engaging participants in critical discussion about the role of Americans in nonviolent solidarity with people living under occupation. Strategies to bring human rights and international law to Israel/Palestine will focus on accompaniment programs, nonviolent protest, and the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement.
