The workshop will examine the creation and missions of the new U.S. military command for Africa (Africom) and the impact of growing U.S. military involvement in Africa on the continent and on the United States. In addition to overall U.S. military involvement in Africa, the workshop will focus on the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo and on the role of the International Criminal Court in the resolution of African conflicts.
