Workshop Information
Event Date:
Thu, 06/24/2010 - 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Event Location:
WSU Old Main: 1137
Full Description:

This workshop will highlight some of the ways that Palestinians are struggling to gain access and control of their water resources. Presenters will explain the importance of water rights in the fight against occupation and dispossession in Palestine and look at examples from other countries where indigenous populations are facing similar oppression due to globalization and privatization. Discussion will focus on concrete ways to support Palestinians as well as ways to use divestment and boycott as tools to address the larger issue of Israeli apartheid. We will look at the boycott campaign in Los Angeles targeting the Department of Water and Power's connection to the Israeli national water company.
