Workshop will expose the value of poetry as a medium used in the struggle against oppression and displacement. Black, Native American, Latino, and Arab American poetry will be used as examples presented and discussed by experts. Participants will co-create their own poetry and share results in individual recitation following time spent for individual composition using different modeling techniques. This space will be creating an alternant product of poetry used as a vehicle of struggle against oppression and not just as a literary medium for artistic appreciation.
