Event Date:
Thu, 06/24/2010 - 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Event Location:
WSU Old Main: O174
Full Description:

This workshop will use a powerpoint presentation, collected personal narratives, and observations to create an intimate understanding of the impact of Israeli policies on Israel ‘48 and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Using the lens of health and human rights through the work of an annual delegation to the region started in 2003, participants will be engaged through visuals and recorded narratives. Voices from the Israeli left, such as Physicians for Human Rights-Israel and the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions will be highlighted. The work of Palestinian civil society organizations such as Palestinians Medical Relief Society, Adameer, and the Gaza Community Mental Health Program will be explored. The presentation will create the foundation for understanding the rational behind the call for boycotts, divestment, and sanctions. Opportunities for US citizens to respond to this call will be discussed.
