Whatever issue you work on – migration, climate justice - we’ve all seen our organizing efforts thwarted by concentrated corporate power - not just in Congress, but elsewhere, too. We’re united by our opposition to expanding corporate rule.
The Right wing made a concerted effort, across issues, to attack and discredit government. But the left continues to avoid critiquing corporations and capitalism-as-is — to our peril. In the absence of a shared analysis and proactive agenda on the left, big business continually outmaneuvers us.
But our time is now. The American public is growing as frustrated with our brand of big business, crony capitalism as peoples around the globe have been struggling against for years. Only 25% of Americans currently believe that our brand of capitalism is best. We have to give the other 75% a coherent and compelling alternative — and build a mass base to transform our economy.
We will discuss a new effort to build a cross-issue, cross-movement People’s Charter with Corporate America. The goal is to, as a group, identify organizing strategies for mass political education and mobilization to tame corporate rule with the power of communities.
