Full Description:

Join us as we discuss our work: Centro Obrero is a nonprofit, unfunded immigrant/worker rights organization based in Detroit. We do English as a Second Language classes, occasional legal clinics, wage reclamation and some direct action, as well as general support like posting bonds and advocacy. Our membership is completely voluntary; people who have skills like lawyers, teachers, etc help out and no one gets paid. We do not have a permanent office space. We have spent a lot of time in immigration fighting to find out missing people, going to all police agencies to fight profiling and raids, and continue to wage the battle on behalf of our community. Centro Obrero has recently begun a reading/study group, as well as taking on the mission of the t shirts for the social forum.
