Full Description:

Culture jamming is a tactic in which activists attempt to disrupt or subvert mainstream culture and dominant and deceptive messaging. In the workshop we will share images, video, and stories from recent projects that offer examples of ways to spark public interest and action, to educate, and garner and create media coverage, and to shift policies and practices related to the mainstream portrayals of, support for, and collusion with, deadly and oppressive Israeli actions against Palestinians. Projects include the deshelving of Israeli consumer goods, the remaking and reinstalling bus shelter graphics, building scale projections, the reconstituting of Zionist outreach, education and fundraising programs, and stealth actions at pro-Israel events. We’ll discuss methods and tactics and in the second half of the workshop we will break out into action groups around specific action strategies developed by the group, pick real locations and audiences we want to reach in our own communities, and set real dates and scenarios and go through action planning process. Each group will then report back to the larger group with a calendar of real BDS actions. Yalla, let’s end Israeli Apartheid!!
