Participants will come away with introductory knowledge about the Palestinian civil society call for boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) and how this strategy has been applied in the North American context. The workshop will open with a short audio/visual “101” presentation about the historic and current application of BDS as a strategy for nonviolent social change. Throughout the workshop, special attention will be paid to case studies of BDS used by indigenous people and people of color to achieve human, political, social, and economic rights. Facilitators will lead a critical discussion about democratizing economics by linking faith, student, labor, environmental, and human rights movements through BDS campaigns.
