Messages: The current world crises are the inevitable consequences of capitalism, of deliberate policies that equal economic tyranny; A paradigm can generate positive change if it is based on spiritual values; Change must come from a diverse mass of people who have raised their consciousness; systemic change will be the product of simultaneous, diverse, condition-specific responses based on shared values; agriculture must be revitalized and proliferated as a short term provision against the global economic collapse and as a long-term strategy for the regeneration of earth, preservation of traditional ways of knowing & elimination of world hunger. Participants will engage in a dialog while viewing a powerpoint. The main alternative proposed is a return to agriculture as the foundation of the economy and society. Strategies include formation of CSA’s; land trusts; divesting from conventional agriculture outlets, supporting local coops; popular education on growing food. Participants will be invited to build a square meter garden. GCFP will share ways people can start right now to disengage from the predatory, exploitative capitalist economic culture and start creating an alternative based on spiritual and human values.
