Growing a Large Scale Palestinian Non-Violent Civil Disobedience Movement in Hebron
Workshop cancelled, sorry for the inconvenience.
Creando un Movimiento Grande y No-Violento de Desobediencia Civil en Hebron, Palestina
Hebron, the largest Palestinian city in the West Bank next to East Jerusalem, is one of the areas hardest hit by the Israeli occupation. Youth Against Settlements has been organizing joint Palestinian and Israeli 100% non violent direct actions to call for full Palestinian human rights and an end to Israeli settlement expansion, which come at the direct cost to the Palestinians that live around them. We have organized several large protests of hundreds of Palestinians in the past, and have just announced that we will begin weekly protests in the Hebron area.
This talk will be given over the web from Hebron by the members of Youth Against Settlements. We will be speaking about the situation in Hebron, our approach to resisting the occupation and calling for our human rights and why we think 100% non-violence protest is so important in this context, the prospects of a large scale non violent civil disobedience movement taking root in the Palestinian territories, challenges that currently face us, and how allies in the U.S. can help. The last part of the workshop will be a discussion session with the participants and the Youth Against Settlements members.
Our vision is to start a 100% non-violent, mass Palestinian uprising of civil disobedience that pressures the Israeli government to dismantle the settlements and end the Occupation.
