We promote fun, peace, healing and active participation in areas in need of change.
Spacewalk provides an opportunity to bridge class, gender and racial boundaries through interaction, humour, play, and creativity. Spacewalk is not just another art opening, festival or carnival, it is all of this along with creating teamwork, teaching collaboration, communication, and organization. Having occurred already in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and now for the second time in Detroit, we have a reputation and success rate.
Spacewalk is a moving entity, twisting through the city like a colorful serpentine caravan comprised of mobile art, performance, happenings, non-motorized vehicles, photography, video, projection, dance, music, and whatever our artists can come up with.
The entire event culminates with an event for the homeless. We like to call it the Feastival or the "Stone Soup Reception." We clean the area, and arrive with food, clothing, toiletries, support service information, shoes, glasses, and the festival's unique "Stone Soup" created collectively by the artists.
