Students and Social Movements Students of all kinds hold a unique and a common power with workers and opressed people , they are both workers and opressed people for the most part, as students they hold a specific power in the academic fatory that needs to be democratise and brought back to the people, as well as take part in worker and opressed people movements. From our experiance at HWC as the Socialist Club we have been able to stop the deportation of students and raise the concsiousness of people on campus and help politicize clubs that used to be a-political. In this workshop we will presents our experiances and open up a disscusion for what can we do as students and participants will give and take as much as the panelist, by the way in wich we will present and engage people.
Defending Free Speech for Political Groups on Campuses Nation wide administrations of universities and colleges have attacked political groups and organizations and this is a part of racist budget cuts; because if their is no students groups administrations can get away with anything. Participants will be engage by being able to relate to struggles on campuses and be able to share and take ideas on how to fight political repression on campuses. We propose that instead of student governments colleges have student unions and be democratically lead by students voting on who will represent them, and for their to be a a withdrawl of any restictions on political clubs, groups, or organizations.
