BikeIt: Pedal to the USSF--- Testimonials and exploration of the Bicycle as a Tool for Social & Environmental Justice Hear testimonials from Bikeit! rides from all around the country that traveled together by bicycle to reach Detroit. BikeIt, based on the site www.bikeit.org, is a project that formed specifically to bring as many people as possible to the Forum by bicycle, in order to vote with our legs for social and environmental justice, and in order to advocate for the bicycle as transportation and a tool for social justice. People from the Grassroutes Caravan Ride of Resilience that started from Madison, from the Fingerlakes BikeIt ride that started from Ithaca, NY, and many more (coming from Chicago, Washington D.C., New York City, Ann Arbor and more!) will share their stories fresh from the road. We will reflect on the bicycle as a real form of transportation (an alternative to car culture), in addition to how it can be used for the transformation of our relationships to each other and the land on long bike tours. Riders will talk about their experiences coming together in mobile villages for days or weeks on bike coming to the forum. Ride organizers will explain the processes they went through in order to organize such large bike rides with social justice themes.
Participants will come away with a solid sense of how to organize bike caravans to promote transformative experiences and promote social & environmental justice work. This workshop will be very interactive and participants will have an opportunity to share their own experiences of group bike rides.

Bikeit is about people power. It is about alternative transportation, it is about organizing ourselves to have a world of clean air, clean water, healthy food and health care, economic and racial justice, and it is about making that statement all together. It is about joining 20,000 other folks who will be coming by any means necessary to get there.
