We cannot build a movement for social justice with out clear and integrated disability justice politics. But what exactly is ableism? What is disability justice? And how does it connect, inform and strengthen social justice movements? This workshop will begin to unpack it all; taking time to build capacity to identify disability oppression and explore the thread of ableism through population control, eugenics, environmental racism, incarceration, colonization and more. As a necessity to push back on the current tokenizing of disability issues in our movements this workshop prioritizes a radical disability analysis and the voices of disabled activist and community members. Co-facilitated from cross-disability, multi-racial and cross-class perspectives, this workshop will provide an integrated, introduction to disability justice as a political framework. Extending an invitation to progressive and radical activists to break the historical estrangement, deepen the work and position themselves in solidarity with a burgeoning yet tenacious disability justice movement.
