This workshop will be a presentation by Direct Action Welfare Group (DAWG), Teen DAWG, and other organizers with experience organizing in rural communities. The session will provide participants with knowledge of work being done by poor people organizing for social and economic justice in Appalachia. Participants will learn the similarities and differences in rural organizing and what issues affect rural communities the most. Participants will leave the workshop with a better understanding of rural organizing and the knowledge and tools they can use to organize in rural communities to build a movement for change.
