This workshop will provide participants with a Pan-Africanist framework, both historical and political, within which to look at current crises and social movements on the African continent. Activists from the Congo, Somalia, Sudan, Nigeria, Uganda and Tanzania will share their perspectives on the roots of crises in their countries and discuss how they connect to US national interests, policies and corporate practices. They will also share examples of people organizing for justice at the grassroots level and provide concrete ways in which people in the US can get involved in international solidarity work guided by organizations and activists on the ground.
